Cleveland, OH (February 18th, 2021) - Professional tennis returns to Cleveland this March 15–20, with the third annual Cleveland Open, an ATP Challenger Tour event. The event is managed by Topnotch Management and has established itself as a staple of the Cleveland winter sports calendar, welcoming some of the top tennis players in the world to the Cleveland Racquet Club over the past few years. In a year that has proven challenging for pro sports events, the 2021 Cleveland Open has received strong support from national banking leader U.S. Bank to ensure the event could be successfully - and safely - hosted at the Cleveland Racquet Club. Last year’s edition saw U.S. Bank’s support of the tournament’s ACE Campaign drive over $5,000 in donation to the tournament’s charity partner, Advantage Cleveland, and this year U.S. Bank is excited to collaborate with the tournament to continue those efforts.
“Our goal going into this year was to ensure the continuity of the tournament and our team has been working overtime to get the 2021 tournament over the line,” explained Tournament Director Kyle Ross. “We’re quite pleased that we’ll able to once again bring world-class tennis talent to Cleveland, and it puts the tournament in a great position to grow for years to come.” Previous year’s draws have welcomed numerous players currently inside the ATP Top 100, many of whom recently featured at the Australian Open; some of the top alumni include Marcos Giron (ATP #78), Sebastian Korda (#91), Dominik Köpfer (#71) and Miomir Kecmanovic (#41). The 2021 ATP Tour calendar has been adjusted so that this year’s Cleveland Open will serve as the US warm-up event for the Miami Open, an ATP 1000 tournament, where many Cleveland Open players will head directly from Cleveland. “U.S. Bank is excited to be the top sponsor of this year’s Cleveland Open and to partner with Topnotch Management to safely bring professional tennis to the city for a third straight year,” said Andi Garten, Community & Business Banking market leader in Cleveland for U.S. Bank. “We’re thrilled this year’s tournament will again benefit Advantage Cleveland, an amazing charity partner that provides tennis, literacy and other programs for area youth.” The 2021 Cleveland Open will be a limited access event, with only Cleveland Racquet Club members and tournament sponsors having access to the tournament facility as a way to minimized the footprint of the event and help create a covid-safe environment for the professional players, staff and spectators. As always, the tournament will be live-streamed for free globally through the ATP Tour website. In addition to operating the annual ATP Challenger Tour event, Topnotch Management has recently earned attention for bringing Cleveland its biggest women’s sporting event, the Cleveland Championships, a WTA Tour 250 event that will feature some of the top women players in the world this August, as they prepare for the US Open in a one-week tournament at Cleveland’s Jacob’s Pavilion. The 2021 Cleveland Open ATP Challenger Tour Main Draw begins Monday March 15th and the Singles and Doubles finals will take place Saturday, March 20th.
