Topnotch Management signs Maria Mateas

Cleveland, OH (August 26, 2020) – Sports management company Topnotch Management announced today the signing of rising tennis star Maria Mateas to a global representation agreement. The 21 year-old, who reached a career high of 284 in the WTA rankings, is coming off a strong year at Duke University and signed with Topnotch amongst considerable agency interest. The Durham, NC resident will be managed by agent James Beres.

For Mateas, who is a first generation American after her parents moved to New Jersey and then to Braintree, MA from Romania, the decision to turn pro is the next logical step for an athlete who has competed in all junior grand slams, and won titles on the ITF Tour. At 5'11”, she has the build and game to compete on Tour, and has earned praise from peers and coaches for years on her preparation and the way she handles herself off the court, as well.

With a number of events and tournament schedules still being determined, Maria will continue to live and train in Durham where her family lives before playing a series of ITF events in the fall.
